Youth Camp 2024 Message 2: Bearing The Yoke In Your Youth

Lessons from Lamentations 3:27 highlight the importance of staying on course in life and faith. Even small deviations can lead to significant consequences over time. Young people are encouraged to start their spiritual journey early, seek God’s help, and discern what is truly good. Faith is the compass that guides through challenges, shaping a lasting legacy of purpose and hope.
Deceive Not Yourself, Boast Not In Others

In dealing with the problem of divisions in the church, Paul calls for the Corinthians to stop deceiving themselves and boasting in others by correcting their wrong perspectives of wisdom, human leaders and self. When the gospel is proclaimed and received, each believer will recognise that all things are ours and ultimately we all belong to Christ.
Foolishness of God is wiser than men

Everyone in the world is looking for power and wisdom.
Our obsession with human wisdom and powerful leaders can blind us to the true gospel and cause divisions with the church.
In 1 Corinthians 1:17-31, Paul reminds the church that Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
No amount of human wisdom or power can overcome the root problem of sin.
God chose what is foolish and weak to shame the wise and strong, so that no one may boast, except to boast in the Lord.
Boasting In The Cross (Book of Galatians)

Human boasting often stems from insecurity and a desire for validation. In his conclusion to the letter to Galatians, Paul framed his final words on doctrine and rivalry with the concept of boasting. As we correctly understand and apply the gospel in our lives in everyday situations, we will experience the freedom, power and grace that comes from our new lives in Christ. Our boast will no longer be in empty glory or in our flesh, but in the cross of Jesus Christ.
Christ Has Set Us Free

The people in the world desire freedom, but they may not understand the true freedom in Christ that comes from our assurance as children of God. Though we were born into bondage of sins, we have been set free and called to live as children, by faith in the promises of God.
Choose Faith, Not Foolishness

Paul called the Galatians foolish because they have forgotten the Gospel. They were justified by faith alone and have received the Spirit. Having begun by the Spirit, they ought to know that they would also be sanctified by the Spirit. Like the Galatians, we need to hear with faith the Word of God again, so that we may apply the Gospel in our lives. In doing so, we on longer rely on the works of the law, instead live by the power and joy of the Spirit.
Do Not Nullify The Grace of God

Justification by faith is a key doctrine at the heart of the Gospel. In the book of Galatians, we see Paul confronting Peter openly in order to preserve this truth. It is through a deep understanding of this doctrine that a church may be truly united through their faith in Jesus. In our individual Christian walk, meditating on how we are justified by faith can also help us to discover the peace and power to live a new life in union with Christ.
The Church in Laodicea- Lukewarm and Deluded

The Church in Laodicea have failed to be a true and faithful witness for Christ. Their testimony was not impacting the city they live in and they received harsh words from Jesus. However, they are not without hope. Despite their weaknesses, Jesus is standing at the door knocking, waiting to restore the fellowship with them.
