The grace of God is free, but not cheap. In fact, God’s free grace is also painful. Why is it painful? Because God’s grace is meant to cleanse us; and that cleansing is painful, yet it is also needful. Thus, when the grace of God comes upon you, you will not merely feel comforted, but you will be sent forth to speak and testify the gospel of grace and truth. God’s painful grace will touch your heart, break you, and consecrate you, so that you can speak the word of God boldly.
