The Test Of Ordinary Living

Humans get easily bored and are on a constant search for novelty. Yet, ordinariness is a test, as it exposes how much we truly value God and is content with Him alone. It is easy to feel high and connected to God, when He showers us with special gifts, answered prayers, and delightful pleasures. But what if there are no fancy things in our walk with God? Do we need anything extra to liven up our relationship with God, or God Himself suffices? The truth is, no special miracle or wonder can offer us the same degree of joy our God Himself can give us. The extraordinary God is also present in the ordinary. God has called us to walk with Him also in the ordinary, and discover the glory in ordinary days too.

No Real Peace Unless Root Problem Is Solved

We tend to feel that the problems humans face are only marital, financial, health, psychological, interpersonal relationship issues, etc., because those are what we can feel, see and observe consciously. Thus, we try our best to address those issues. Yet, the root of mankind’s problems is beyond what is seen on the surface. As with any other problem, it is not enough to only treat the symptoms, but we have to fix the problem at its root. So what exactly is the root to all human problems? What is the antidote to the root problem? What is the key to true peace, freedom, joy and meaning of life?

Are You Ready For Freedom?

We all love freedom, but are we ready for freedom? The taste of freedom is sweet, yet, how we use freedom is also very important. If freedom is not used wisely, it may become harmful. Is freedom just about seeking our own happiness and doing whatever we want to do, or is there is higher freedom? Is freedom supposed to be without boundaries, or does true freedom come with some protective restrictions and self-restraint? God calls us not to pursue a false freedom, but seek the true and lasting freedom by abiding in Him!

Disguised Grace In A “New Normal”

Grace is not always obvious, especially when we are stuck in a situation we do not wish to be in, just like this “new normal” under the pandemic that we have to adjust to. Yet, what grace does God have for us? Can we recognize His grace in disguise?

How Long, O Lord?

In this COVID-19 situation, one lingering question in our minds is, “How long more will this last?” God’s people of the past had asked the same question. How does God address this pressing concern? What hope does He offer when the waiting gets tough? What directions does He have for us during the wait?

God Wants to Change You More Than Your Circumstances

We tend to dream about a different reality from our current one, and in our prayers, we always like to ask God to change our unpleasant circumstances. But sometimes, God does not change our circumstances until He changes us, especially our hearts. Changed circumstances is not the only way for God to prove that He loves us. In fact, sometimes, the very set of circumstances that we asked God to change is necessary to bring about a deeper transformation in us.

A Refocus On Blessed Family Culture

Family is the dearest to us, yet as we spend longer hours than usual with our families during this circuit breaker, we may need to deal with more tensions. However, important lessons and new divine grace are also in store for us. Since God surely has His reasons to let us stay home with our families this season, let’s refocus on deepening the gospel culture in our families and restore the bliss and purpose God has for our families.

Fear Says “What If”, Faith Says “Even If”

“What if…?” is a question that always pops into our minds. Consequently, we will become highly anxious and fearful, if we fail to guard our hearts. Fear likes to ask, “What if”, but faith says, “Even if”. Certainly, our God can stop this pandemic, or grant us our wishes, if He wants, BUT even if He does not, let us still consider Him God and trust in Him. Though we may never reach a stage where we can be totally without fears, yet even as we still have fears, we can choose to follow God by faith. Instead of focusing on the “what-ifs” that we do not know, let us hope in the God whom we do know!

Not Designed To Control But To Trust

No matter how remarkable a person is, man cannot control his own destiny. Because there are at least two things which man cannot control: Time and Chance. Only when a person comes to terms with this reality, then he will not over-rely on his own intelligence, but will realise his need for God, for divine power outside of man himself.
